Somali security forces say that a deadly siege at a hotel in the capital, Mogadishu, has come to an end. At least 12 people have been confirmed dead so far, after Islamist militants stormed the hotel. It was a popular meeting venue for politicians and government officials. The Al Qaida-linked Al-Shabab group claimed responsibility for the attack. This was the first major assault since Somalia's new president took office in May.
