On Friday, the full moon over the US capital, Washington, DC, was turned orange by smoke gusting from the other side of the country.
Wildfires continue to ravage parts of the western US, helped by unprecedented heatwaves and drought.
Firefighters have come from across the country to battle the blazes and thousands of people have been evacuated while thousands more are preparing to leave.
Smoke has made it difficult to fight the flames from the air.
Al Jazeera’s Heidi Zhou-Castro has more from Washington, DC.
