Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico made his first public appearance with a speech in the country’s capital on Saturday.
Despite still recovering after being shot four times, Fico made it a point to appear for the national Saints Cyril and Methodius Day holiday.
Though he did not address the recent attempt on his life, he praised Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s recent visit to Moscow, calling for peace talks between Russia and Ukraine.
“If my health had allowed me to do so, I would very much like to have joined [Orban]. There are not enough peace talks,” Fico said from a podium set at Slovakian castle ruins dating back over 1,100 years.
