Residents of the southern U.S. were left picking up the remnants of their houses on Friday after severe storms and tornadoes swept across the southern U.S. this past week, leaving behind a trail of destruction.

“It was just a roar and loud wind and a whistle you know. Some people say it sounds like a train,” said Alabaman resident Earl Lewis as he recounted his experience from the storm.

As the stormy weather continued on Friday, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) reported large swaths of lightning across Texas and Louisiana. The National Weather Service also issued a tornado warning in place for parts of Louisiana.

The storms are expected to continue eastwards through the weekend, but lessen in severity by Saturday.
