Russia-Ukraine standoff: Macron meets with Putin to talk de-escalation

In a bid to further de-escalate tensions between Russia and Ukraine, French President Emmanuel Macron met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.

Macron told his Russian counterpart that he wants to avoid war and build trust between the West and Russia. There were no breakthroughs after talks, but the Russian president described their meeting as useful.

As Redmond Shannon reports, the high-stakes meeting also comes as thousands of U.S. troops begin arriving in Eastern Europe.
