Ontario Regional Chief RoseAnne Archibald will replace the Assembly of First Nations' outgoing National Chief Perry Bellegarde, who’s stepping down after seven years.
Reginald Bellerose was the last competitor standing, after the race narrowed down from seven candidates. Archibald had called for Bellerose to concede, arguing that it’s time for a woman to take on the role.
As Mike Le Couteur reports, Archibald will be the first female national chief for the Assembly of First Nations.
