New details are coming out about the man who is accused of killing Burnaby RCMP Const. Shaelyn Yang earlier this week, with Global News learning the man lived and worked in Toronto as an accomplished filmmaker.

Jongwon Ham, 37, went from being an actor and Emmy Award-winning filmmaker to living in a tent in the B.C. city and has now been charged in the first-degree murder of Yang.

Global News has confirmed with police sources in B.C. and Ontario that Ham had been charged with sexual assault in Toronto in 2014, but it took three years before the charge was withdrawn. As Rumina Daya reports, catastrophic damage had been done and a mental health downward spiral ensued.
