New details have emerged in the tragic death of B.C. RCMP Const. Shaelyn Yang, with a police report obtained by Global News revealing the Mountie was trying to save Jongwon Ham's life when she was killed by the accused killer.

The report states Yang had accompanied a City of Burnaby parks officer as he prepared to serve an eviction notice on a man who had been occupying a tent in a local park for several months. According to the report, upon Yang checking inside the tent, "she believed he could be going into overdose or [had] already overdosed."

When Yang announced she was going into the tent to administer naloxone, the man responded, exited the tent and a struggle eventually ensued. Kristen Robinson reports on the details revealed in the report.
