In Alberta, there were Saturday rallies in the province's two largest cities to oppose Premier Danielle Smith's sweeping new LGBTQ2S+ regulations on gender identity.

This comes after Smith published a video on social media on Wednesday, saying the government will require parental notification and consent if a child 15 years or younger changes their name and pronouns at school.

Alberta NDP leader Rachel Notley joined protesters in Edmonton, rallying simultaneously with another demonstration in Calgary. All of them expressed anger over Smith's newly announced plan to restrict important procedures for transgender youth.

Global’s Kabilan Moulitharan and Craig Momney speak with concerned protesters on the ground.
