Pride 2023: Toronto expects record parade turnout amid ongoing LGBTQ2 battles

Downtown Toronto will again be filled with the sights, sounds and colours of Pride, with organizers expecting a record turnout this year.

As much as Pride is a celebration, it's also meant to highlight the struggles and the battles the 2SLGBTQ+ community has been through to get here — battles they continue to face.

From a former Blue Jays pitcher sharing social media posts criticized as being anti-LGBT, to strict new laws in Uganda and bills being passed in the U.S., the community remembers what it took to gain acceptance and knows that the struggle continues to maintain the ground gained.
