Pope Francis led an Easter Vigil at St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican on Saturday, a day after the recently ailing pontiff skipped the Good Friday easter procession because of unseasonably cold weather in Rome, according to a statement by the Vatican.
The 86-year-old pope is recovering from bronchitis for which he received three days of treatment in the hospital.
On Sunday, tens of thousands of faithful are expected to descend on St. Peter’s Square for Easter Mass and listen to the spiritual leader’s guidance as the Holy Week comes to an end.
