Peru sees 3 presidents in one week amid political crisis

The South American nation of Peru has chosen a lawmaker as its next president. Francisco Sagasti has been tapped as “caretaker president” in hopes of ending a political crisis, becoming the third Peruvian president in the span of a week.

RT America’s Alex Mihailovich has the story. Thousands of supporters of ousted President Martin Vizcarra have described the political turmoil in Peru as a coup disguised as impeachment, forcing interim president Manuel Merina to step down.

The week has been marked by nonstop protests, which saw two demonstrators killed. Award-winning journalist and Host of On Contact Chris Hedges shares his perspective.
