Hundreds of residents of Goma, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, have fled their homes in response to the recent volcanic eruption of Mount Nyiragongo.

People awoke Sunday to streets covered in lava and it is getting dangerously close to the city’s airport.

The last time the volcano erupted in 2002, it left 250 people dead and 120,000 homeless and as Jennifer Johnson explains, many are upset officials did not warn them ahead of time the eruption was imminent.
