The United Nation's mission in Mali is speeding up the withdrawal of nearly 12,000 soldiers.
In June the military junta there demanded that the troops should leave by the end of the year.
The head of the mission in Mali has told the UN Security Council that pulling the soldiers out will be challenging because the deadline is tight and the situation is dangerous.

Al Jazeera’s Gabriel Elizondo reports from UN headquarters in New York.
