The International Criminal Court (ICC) has ruled it has jurisdiction in the occupied Palestinian territories.
That bolsters the ICC chief prosecutor's effort to investigate suspected alleged war crimes by Israel - and potentially by Palestinian armed groups.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the judgment and said Israel will fight back.
Both the Palestinian Authority and Hamas said the decision offered vital protection for the Palestinian people.
