Chinese courts are set to hand out verdicts in the cases of two Canadian nationals who have been detained in that coountry.

A verdict for Michael Spavor, one of the two Michaels who have been detained for over two and a half years, is expected to be announced Tuesday evening.

A Chinese court has also rejected Robert Schellenberg's bid to appeal his death sentence on drug charges. Schellenberg was detained by Chinese authorities in December 2014, and was sentenced to death on drug smuggling charges in January 2019.

Jeff Semple has more on what’s next for Schellenberg and what might await Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig.
