A pod of orcas which appeared to be trapped in drift ice off the coast of Hokkaido in northern Japan have escaped, local media reported on Wednesday (February 7), citing town authorities. A group of at least 10 orcas was seen struggling in the ice near Rausu on Tuesday (February 6) morning.
