Progressive Conservative Party Leader Doug Ford has won the Ontario provincial election, forming another majority government in a "historic" victory – but how did his campaign strategy help contribute to this?

The public saw Ford, as the incumbent, typically avoid media questions, but maintain consistent support throughout the campaign. Plus, aside from seeking out a new voter coalition through blue-collar messaging, the consensus was that Ford’s authenticity – what you see is what you get – was another asset in his bid for a second majority mandate.

The polls saw record-low voter turnout, estimated at about 43 per cent, with more than half the eligible population not voting.

Global’s Candace Daniel spoke with Queen’s University political studies teaching fellow Tim Abray, who breaks it down.
