In the Northwest Territories, there’s not much left in the town of Enterprise just north of the Alberta border. Much of the community was destroyed by flames and everyone was ordered to get out. It's not advised, but some stayed behind.

Lyne Maisonneuve and her partner Mike Kimbel defied the evacuation order and returned home. They say a crew from High Level stopped briefly to help, but with the Hamlet ablaze, the couple went to great lengths fighting back the flames all on their own.

Residents say 95 per cent of the hamlet is completely gone. They are wondering where the help and water bombers were when they needed them the most.

Despite the hardship the people in this little community have big hopes to rise from the ruins. Global’s Jayme Doll spoke to one couple who took matters into their own hands trying to save homes.
