Northern lights dance in the southern Ontario sky

Residents of southern Ontario were treated to a beautiful sight on Thursday night as a "severe" geomagnetic storm made the northern lights visible quite far south overnight.

The northern lights, also known as the aurora borealis, are caused by energized particles from the sun hitting the earth's upper atmosphere, which are then redirected towards the North or South Pole.

As Ahmar Khan reports, it sent residents outside in hopes of grabbing photos of the stunning views and many were not disappointed.
