NI Local Elections: Sinn Fein set to become largest party in local government as counting continues

As the count in Northern Ireland's Local Government Elections enters its final stages Sinn Fein remains on course to become the largest party in councils in Northern Ireland.

DUP leader Sir Jeffrey Donaldson expressed concerns about the potential outcome of the local government elections, stating that if Sinn Fein becomes the largest party, "unionism must reassess its direction".

Sir Jeffrey emphasized the need to examine the turnout discrepancies between unionist and nationalist areas, as well as the ongoing fragmentation of the unionist vote
