On Saturday, Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that IDF has initiated the second phase of Israel's war on Hamas as they pressed ground operations against Hamas militants, with Netanyahu vowing to "destroy the enemy above ground and below ground."

"The war inside the Gaza Strip will be difficult and long, and we are prepared for it," Netanyahu added.

Also, Israel's chief military spokesperson refused to confirm or deny whether Israel was responsible for the telecommunication blackout that hit Gaza on Friday, which has left the besieged enclave largely cut off.

However, the spokesperson stated that Israel will take necessary measures to protect its forces.
