A new report from Statistics Canada is providing a sobering look at just how common workplace harassment is in this country – especially for women.

Nearly half of Canadian women and three in 10 men reported experiencing some form of harassment or sexual assault in the workplace, according to a survey conducted in 2020.

The data for the survey came from the Gender Results Framework, a tool that was first introduced by the federal government to track the progress of gender quality in Canada.

As Anne Gaviola explains, workplace harassment can have a lasting impact on a person’s job security and their ability to climb the corporate ladder.
