U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi presided over a lighting ceremony Wednesday for the Christmas tree at the U.S. Capitol.
The 55-foot tall, 25-foot wide Engelmann spruce was harvested from the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison (GMUG) National Forests near Delta, Colo., on Nov. 5.
The celebration looked slightly different this year as a result of the pandemic. A child from Colorado who helped select and decorate the tree would normally join in the festivities, but this year, because of the novel coronavirus, was unable to take part.
