Police in London, Ontario say Nathaniel Veltman, 20, faces four charges of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder after he drove into a Muslim family out walking Sunday evening, in what police called a targeted attack.
The youngest family member, nine-year-old Fayez, survived the attack and remains in hospital.
Salman Afzaal, 46, his wife Madiha Salman, 44, their 15-year-old daughter Yumna Afzaal and Salman Afzaal's 74-year-old mother, Talat Afzaal were killed.
As Jeff Semple explains, Veltman's crime has left the country with more questions than answers.
