A rare collection of Voltaire manuscripts is now on display at Montreal’s McGill University — a collection that one expert deems to be one of the greatest in the world.

Known by his pen name, Voltaire, the French philosopher François-Marie Arouet was one of the most influential thinkers of all time.

Voltaire’s wit was infamously used to whip organized religion, a powerful institution at the time.
