The stunning moment a drone crashed into the erupting Fagradalsjfall volcano on Iceland was caught on camera on May 24, with footage showing it fly into a tower of lava before the video stops.

Drone operator Joey Helms told Reuters being able to manually operate the drone made it an immersive and unique experience, but said the conditions around the volcano made it "tricky."

The volcano, which is several miles from Reykjavik, began erupting in March after lying dormant for about 900 years.
