Missile strikes on Zaporizhzhia leaves at least 12 dead, dozens injured

At least 12 people have been killed and dozens injured in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine, after missiles struck several buildings in the southeastern city on Sunday, according to the region's governor Oleksandr Starukh.

A nine-storey building saw heavy damage while five others were levelled by the blasts. Many others also were damaged as a result from the strikes.

One of the residents of a suburb hit by the strike said she had woken up hearing three explosions early Sunday morning, while her son said he did not understand why Russia had attacked his neighbourhood.

"I don't think that this is a special operation," he said. "To look at how they call it... This is definitely not a special operation."
