Dr. Ali Islam, the maternal uncle of Madiha Salman, spoke about the grief his family is feeling after the 44-year-old, her husband Salman Afzaal, 46, his mother Talat Afzaal, 74, and their 15-year-old daughter Yumna Salman were killed last Sunday night in London, Ont.

Islam said the loss to the family is "immense," adding that "four fountains of sweetness were taken away." All four were killed while out for a walk, when a man in a truck drove them down in what police have called a premeditated attack because of their faith.

The couple's nine-year-old son, Fayez, survived the attack, but was seriously injured and remains in hospital.

Islam said the family has "turned to our faith" to help them heal in the wake of tragedy and thanked the public for the "messages of comfort" they've received following the deaths of their loved ones.
