Long COVID: Some Canadians are still dealing with parosmia

An Edmonton woman has been living with a long-COVID disorder called parosmia for about a year, impacting the smell and taste of nearly everything she eats.

Parosmia is a condition that drastically distorts a person’s sense of smell to the point that everyday scents can taste like garbage and make them sick to their stomach. According to one expert, approximately 60 per cent those infected lose their sense of smell in “the acute phase.”

For, Kristi Chipeniuk, It started shortly after she contracted COVID-19 in December 2021.

As Su-Ling Goh reports, many Canadians are still suffering from parosmia well after getting infected with COVID.
