Conservative Party chair Greg Hands has denied the red wall is being rebuilt.

Playing down Conservative losses overnight, he said: "I'm not seeing that breakthrough for Labour that they would need to be for Sir Keir Starmer to able to say hand on heart that he is ready to form a government."

Asked if the country was seeing the return of the red wall, he said Labour was not making a "comprehensive breakthrough", despite gaining 108 council seats so far, while the Conservatives have lost 172.
