Libya-Turkiye energy deal prompts push back from Greece and Egypt

Libya and Turkiye have signed a new preliminary deal on energy exploration in the Eastern Mediterranean. The agreement has sparked angry reactions from Greece and Egypt to say they would oppose any activity in disputed areas of the eastern Mediterranean.
In 2019, Turkiye and Libya signed an agreement establishing an “exclusive economic zone’ in the Mediterranean.
Diplomatic tensions are rising in the Eastern Mediterranean over oil and gas drilling rights.
