Israeli forces were seen at the site of a shooting attack in the occupied West Bank on Friday, after two people were killed in their car.

The attack came with Israel on high alert in Jerusalem after a day of violence along the Lebanese and Gaza borders.

Israel's military said soldiers had arrived at the scene of a reported car crash between Israeli and Palestinian vehicles near the Jewish settlement of Hamra, and that saw a car with three Israeli women inside had been shot at. Two of the women died, and the third sustained serious wounds, Israeli medical officials said.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the scene of the shooting on Friday. The attack comes as Israel reinforced troops near its borders after cross-frontier violence and police raids at Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque raised concerns of a broadening conflict.

Israeli forces were searching for the attacker, the military said.
