Israel-Hamas war: Palestinian civilians 'bearing brunt' of conflict, says Blinken

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has said he will discuss "concrete steps" to minimise harm to men, women and children in Gaza during his trip to Israel and the Middle East.

Speaking in Maryland ahead of his visit, he added that in recent days "we've seen Palestinian civilians continuing to bear the brunt" of the conflict.

Mr Blinken also reiterated the view that Israel "has not only the right but the obligation to defend itself".
