Israel-Hamas conflict: Canadian MP condemns Israel's "butchery" in bombing civilians in Gaza

Canadian Member of Parliament Sameer Zuberi called on Canadians to recognize that Israel's bombardment of Gaza has led to the deaths of innocent people, including children and seniors.

“Butchery is what it is,” he told reporters, though he declined to say whether he believed Israel has specifically committed a war crime in its siege of Gaza.

“It’s a good question, you have to ask the questions,” he said in French to a reporter’s query on the topic.

Zuberi also said that he believed there would be no peace in the region, among people of all faiths, until a “viable Palestinian state is created.”

He clarified that the attack by Hamas was “abhorrent” and "caused this moment we’re in.”
