"We are continuing to work out the details for the upcoming CAF flights to take place tomorrow and are taking into consideration those who observe Shabbat and ensuring they are on subsequent flights," Sunday said.

She added that there would be an "opportunity" for individuals to be evacuated through the Rafah border crossing in Gaza into Egypt on Saturday, as Canadian officials continue talks with Israeli and Egyptian authorities.

The briefing comes after Khaled Meshaal, a former leader of the group Hamas, called for demonstrations across the Muslim world Friday in support of Palestinians is causing security worries among Jewish organizations in Canada.

Canadians in Israel are starting to safely leave, as the first evacuation flights organized by the government transported people from Tel Aviv to Athens, Greece on Thursday.
