Iranian LGBTQ+ activist lives in German exile after escaping harsh sentence | DW News

Exiled Iranian activist Sareh Hamdani continues her struggle for LGBTQ rights in her home country. She was arrested in October 2021 while trying to cross Iran's border with Turkey, and subsequently sentenced to death for the alleged crime of promoting homosexuality. She was released on bail after protests led by Amnesty International here in Germany, and was finally able to flee and join her supporters in Germany. DW reporter Negin Fard, spoke to Sareh about her experiences.
