The former chief adviser to UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has criticised the government's COVID-19 response as disastrous and said people "died unnecessarily" as a result.
In response to parliamentary questions, Dominic Cummings said some ministers had gone on holiday as the pandemic was raging in February last year and called on Health Secretary Matt Hancock to be fired.
He said Johnson was unfit to be prime minister.
The UK is the fifth-worst country in the world for COVID-19 deaths, with nearly 128,000 lives lost.
