Scientists say the risk of a volcanic eruption in Iceland remains high, even though seismic activity has decreased in the past few days. A state of emergency remains in effect and some 4,000 residents of the town of Grindavik near the capital Reykjavik have been evacuated as a precaution. On Monday they were permitted to enter their homes for a few minutes to gather essentials.
