Horse rescued after being stranded on rooftop amid flooding in Brazil

A Brazilian horse that garnered widespread attention after a TV news helicopter spotted it stranded on a rooftop has been rescued, officials say.

Firefighters and veterinarians climbed onto the partially submerged roof, sedated and immobilized the horse, nicknamed Caramelo.

Officials say the stranded horse is just one of thousands of animals that rescue workers have been trying to save in recent days.

Recent massive floods in southern Brazil have killed more than 100 people.
