Prosecutors say former Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III is facing upwards of 50 years in prison for a fatal crash that killed a 23-year-old woman in Las Vegas on Nov. 2.

Ruggs, who did not appear in court for his arraignment Wednesday morning, was formally charged with five counts in a fiery crash that claimed the life of Tina Tintor and her dog Max.

Prosecutors say Ruggs' blood-alcohol content was twice the legal limit, and he was speeding at 156 miles per hour in the early hours of Nov. 2 when his Corvette slammed into the back end of a Toyota Rav4 driven by Tintor. The Rav4 burst into flames and Tintor and her dog were trapped inside.

Ruggs and his girlfriend Rudy Washington, who have a 1-year-old daughter together, were both injured in the crash as well.

Global's Steve Autio provides more details on the charges.
