One day after the expiration of a seven-day truce between Israel and Hamas, the Palestinian militants’ deputy chief, Saleh al-Arouri says no more hostages will be exchanged with Israel until the violence on Gaza stops.
"The official and final stance for the Hamas movement and the resistance is that there will be no exchange until the end of the aggression and a permanent ceasefire,” al-Arouri said on Saturday.
Though Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claims his military has “no desire to harm the population” of Gaza, he said on Tuesday that “We have a very strong desire to hurt Hamas."
Israel had warned that it would be ready to resume fighting with Hamas if a deal could not be reached 7 a.m. local time on Friday. That deadline came and went, and the bombardment has since resumed.
More than 15,000 have been killed in Gaza in the span of eight weeks, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
