In tonight's top story: The flu epidemic is tightening its grip on Canadian pediatric hospitals, with over half of flu cases being made up of children between the ages of two and nine. As Heather Yourex-West explains, the crushing wave of respiratory viruses has forced Alberta's children's hospital to cut services at some outpatient clinics in order to redeploy staff to deal with emergencies.

Canada's auditor general released a report on the federal response to the pandemic, finding that $4.6 billion in COVID-19 benefits were claimed by ineligible recipients. Mackenzie Gray examines the billions more in pandemic relief still under scrutiny, whether the government can get the money back, and reactions from Liberal and Conservative party officials.

Delegates from around the world gave their opening remarks to kick off the COP15 biodiversity conference in Montreal, and will spend the next two weeks discussing the best way to protect the planet's nature.
