In our top story: There are more confirmed cases of the COVID-19 variant that was first identified in the United Kingdom. Health authorities in Ottawa, Ont. reported a case on Sunday afternoon, with British Columbia also confirming its first case just hours later. All of the cases are now linked to travel, but experts believe community spread of this new variant that is believed may be more transmissible is inevitable. Abigail Bimman reports.

A horrific COVID-19 outbreak in an Ontario long-term care home has led to the death of 41 seniors over the Christmas weekend. The outbreak is now being managed by a local hospital authority. But as Morganne Campbell reports, families are speaking out asking for military assistance like Ontario and Quebec had last spring.
