Global National: April 26, 2022 | Ukraine's national security chief says Russia can be defeated

Although the war in Ukraine continues to intensify, the country's National Security Chief Oleksiy Danilov believes Russian forces can still be defeated in spite of the overwhelming odds. Crystal Goomansingh speaks with Danilov in Kyiv on what's fuelling his optimism, his bewilderment over Russia's role on the world stage, and the foreign aid that could help his country turn the tide.

Danilov's remarks come as 40 western allies gathered in Germany to discuss sending more aid to war-torn Ukraine. Abigail Bimman looks at what new support is being promised by the West and how Moscow is also raising the spectre of nuclear war, during its meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

In Canada, a special joint committee of MPs and senators are now reviewing the federal government's use of the Emergencies Act last February, to end the disruptive, anti-mandate protests blocking the country's borders and occupying the capital.
