German Social Democrat Olaf Scholz will soon replace Angela Merkel as chancellor, who was the leader of Europe's largest economy for 16 years.
He will lead a coalition with the Greens and the liberal Free Democrats (FDP).
His main tasks are tackling the COVID-19 pandemic, moving towards more climate-friendly policies and keeping the budget in check.
