China has asked the United States to meet it halfway - and bring bilateral ties back on track.
But Beijing has also responded angrily to statements made during the Group of Seven (G7) Summit, which wrapped up in the Japanese city of Hiroshima on Sunday.
It says it will reduce its reliance on Western countries.
