French residents took to the streets early Tuesday morning after President Emmanuel Macron's government survived two no-confidence votes. With both votes having failed, the pension bill that has caused demonstrations over the past several weeks was considered adopt.

The bill would see the retirement age rise from 62 to 64.

The protests and strikes are expected to continue, causing a significant challenge to Macron's authority, with unions and opposition parties saying they would step up demonstrations to try and force a U-Turn.
