Former Canadian soldier Matthew Dupre was extradited to Thailand on Sunday in connection with the killing of a criminal gang member.
The 38-year-old suspect is wanted for the alleged murder of Jimi Sandhu, a purported criminal who was shot dead in Phuket, Thailand in February 2022.
"The deceased is connected with the (Canadian) United Nation (Criminal) Gang and was linked to the murder of one of the leaders of another gang, called the Red Scorpion, in Canada,” Central Investigation Bureau Commissioner Jirabhop Bhuridej said in a press conference Monday.
Dupre’s extradition was conducted through a Thai air force flight and was approved in an Alberta court last December.
