Thousands of individuals are buried in war-grave cemeteries, and many of the graves are marked with a name and a cross. But, not all of those who were killed were Christian.

Seventy-five years after a Canadian flight officer was killed in action in the Second World War, his cross-marked tombstone will be changed to reflect his Jewish faith.

Abigail Bimman has the story of the late Morley Ornstein’s new Star of David, which involved determination and collaboration by a Canadian journalist, a British researcher and historian and a 92-year-old childhood friend of Ornstein himself.
